I’ve mentioned before my feelings on mops, yes? Anything I can’t take off and wash grosses me out. I won’t buy disposable pads just to throw away my money and take out more trash. For the past few years I have been using a disposable-pad mop, but employing microfiber auto rags instead of the paper refill pads. It worked great and I had no complaints. Well, you know how sometimes you don’t know what you’re missing until you find something better? Yeah, enter Libman Freedom Mop and its friends.
When Libman offered to send me this mop package to review, site unseen, I decided I would be brutally honest. I assumed I wouldn’t like it as well as the status quo mop situation in this house. I didn’t want a disgusting germ/slime magnet, and I didn’t want to have to go the store whenever I need to mop my floors. When the Libman mop arrived, I may have squealed. It was perfect, my dream mop, or close. There are some things I don’t love, but we’ll get to that in a minute…
Years ago, as a young wife, I actually asked for a spraying mop for my birthday. True story. I wanted one that badly. I was sick of filling a bucket or the sink, and sick of wringing things as I moped. My husband, ever the romantic, made that wish come true and I unwrapped a spray mop (from the plastic grocery bag it came in) for my 23rd birthday. But I only used it for a few weeks before giving up on the spray feature because I was sick of buying the disposable proprietary solution canisters. But while it lasted, Oh! how I enjoyed its spraying, n0-bucket-or-sink-of-disgustingness virtues!
Well guess what? The Libman Freedom mop takes the awesomeness of a spray mop and ads the *genius*, and practicality, of an empty bottle.
What’s so great about an empty bottle? You can fill it up with whatever you want! This is especially important for freaks like me who have very specific needs when it comes to how a mopped floor should smell; two words: piney and soly.
The other love? A reusable, washable microfiber pad with *scrubbers*. This was actually something I missed when using the auto rags—a decent scrubbing quality. The Libman pads have strips of, like, Astroturf in them-very scrubby. (fun fact: My aunt’s entire back patio was carpeted in plastic grass carpet. The rug-burns of my childhood can attest to the abrasive qualities of the stuff!)(Though still gentle on floors.)(But seriously? Not on knees.)
I think I would have preferred the Astroturf to be all in one area, like to one side, to allow for more concentrated scrubbing. But it did end up easily getting tw0-day dried syrup off the tile, so what do I know?
The pads attach to the mop base via these crazy hooks covering the naked base on the flat side.
So you just slap it on there, with no pushing anything through little rubber grabber things that also sometimes catch your finger and make you swear. Just lay the pad down, smooth, and go.
And while we’re on the subject of the mop head, it swivels and pivots so you can mop in awkward areas. Like behind toilets. Also, it’s long enough, I could get the first few inches of the under part of my stove without moving anything. And since that’s all anyone sees, I can pretend for a while longer that any mess further back doesn’t exist.
The mop comes with one pad, and you can purchase additional pads for rotating when the others are in the wash.
Fancy. And so thoughtful.
You can also purchase an additional bottle. I would think this would be really nice if you had various kinds of hard surface flooring? Like, tile in one area and hard wood in the other. With an additional bottle, you can switch out your cleaning agent depending on the surface. We only have ceramic tile and cheap-o, ugly linoleum, so this isn’t really a huge selling point for me, personally, but I can see where it could be really handy for others.
The extra bottle comes with a stand so you can store the leftover solution. The bottle itself has a rubberized plug-friend thingy that seals the dispenser opening when not inserted into the mop itself, so it doesn’t leak.
Again, thoughtful and convenient if you need to have multiple solutions ready to go. But one of my dislikes is actually the stand the extra bottle comes with. It doesn’t seem very stable. Not that the bottle leaks when it falls out, but still kind of annoying. Mine kept getting knocked over on my counter. And with flat horizontal surfaces at a premium in my closets and cabinets, I would have preferred something wall-mounting.
And finally, back to the pads. Here is what the once-pristine-and-white new pad looked like after moping my kitchen and two bathrooms. I have three little boys. Don’t judge. Okay, go ahead, just don’t comment it. Please.
And after being washed with our other rags? The one on top is the same pad as the above picture, the bottom pad is a new, unused pad
No, I didn’t use bleach, just my regular detergent. I’m sure a few more weeks of hard labor in our house will dingy it right up, but I have no doubt it will still clean the floors. Just maybe not look so pretty doing it. But the same can be said for me, so I’m casting no stones.

1 – 200 of 286 Newer› Newest»It's a silly tip but it worked for me: Buy yourself some interestingly-scented cleaning products (I like Method's stuff, which you can find at Target) and I guarantee you'll enjoy cleaning a lot more. Nothing like busting out my pink grapefruit all-purpose cleaner or my minty glass cleaner.
My best cleaning tip is getting your child involved. My son was THRILLED to clean the porch yesterday. It was like a game to him and it helped me out a lot.

My best cleaning tip comes from a dishtowel my mom gave me: "I don't clean the house, I just turn out the lights." hehe. Maybe this mop would help me actually clean more often...
I love to use homemade cleaners as well as reusable products, like this mop! So sick of the swiffer and all its upkeep!
My best cleaning tip (especially right now, 5 months preggo & all!) is not to wait until the end of the day when you're already dog-tired. Saving it for last might seem like a good idea since you'll be rewarded with taking it easy when you get done, but personally I'm more likely to not do a very good job when I feel like I could just fall over exhausted.
I like Morgan's tip best though. :)
My best cleaning tip is to use baking soda, it's natural, quick and gets the job done.

My favrote tip: duplicates of my fav cleaners. If I see a mess, I make a split decision, get the appropriate cleaning supply or leave it and come back to it later. I found that if I had all of my cleaning stuff in a central spot (say, the tall shelf in my pantry that I can't reach...) I am less likely to do it right away. I have duplicates of my favorite cleaners so that they are never more than 1 room away. Not for eveyone, but works for me!
My best cleaning tip is pick up as you go. It is so much easier to do the actual cleaning (sweeping and such) if the room is already picked up.
i love my steam cleaner for my floors, but have wanted one of these for quick cleanups! my tip... a little at a time! i tend to let things build up and then feel overwhelmed! i'm trying to keep up with it better!

My tip is to turn on your favorite up beat music loud enough so you can hear it throughout the whole house. It makes cleaning go by so much faster!
I use old newpaper pages to wash my windows/mirrors/ etc. Using newspaper instead of a papertowel or rag puts them to another use after reading and also doesn’t leave little “threads” on your windows.
Cleaning, well first off I have to”want” to clean. The other side of that moody coin is… When I’m in the mood to clean, Katty bar the door and unless you want to be drafted into “helping”, get out, run don’t walk!
I use vinegar as well for everything, Windows too. I keep a spray bottle of peroxide to wash down the sinks and cabinets in kitchen ad bath.
My favorite cleaning tip is to use a lint roller to clean dust and other stuff (in my case, cat hair) off of fabric lamp shades.
I do not like mopping floors. I get my daughter to do it. She loves it. I have no idea where she gets it.

Favorite cleaning tip is after cleaning the top of your fridge really well, place plastic wrap on the top of your fridge. No one ever sees the plastic wrap, and when you are ready to clean off the top of the fridge again you only have to pull off the plastic wrap, not scrub off grimy dust.

Seriously, the BEST cleaner for tubs, sinks, shower doors to get the soap scum gone forever is simply lemon oil. Squirt it on and rub off the crud with a dry washcloth or similar. Wipe the excess with a clean, dry rag. I do this every 3-4 weeks. No more scum! (if it is really scummy and dirty, you can use the finest steel wool instead of a clean dry rag.) AMAZING!
My best cleaning tip is to send the hubby to the park with the kids so I can actually get it done with no interruptions, and use vinegar for almost everything!

I have a six week chart that covers everything in the house. Some tasks are weekly, some two or three times in the cycle, and some just once. I put them in Monday thru Thursday, but really just try to get the week's stuff done as early as possible so I can "take off" whatever day I want. But that doesn't include the daily laundry/dishes/pickup. And this mop would sure help! I just threw out another Swiffer pad, and felt terribly guilty over it.
Cleaning tip? How about cleaning tool. Our old cloth diapers are the most used item in our arsenal. Those and a thin plastic scraper thing.

Make a clean-up basket or bucket, something just big enough to hold some rags (old t-shirts make great rags) and your usual cleaners and gloves. Kosher salt is great for cleaning burned on food on your stove top or in your oven.
I keep a spray bottle of vinegar and water handy and use it all over the house for quick cleanups such as the bathroom countertop, sink, bathtub, toilet, floor; the kitchen countertop, sink, stove, and refrigerator and don't forget the appliances and your reading glasses.
I have been loving the 5/10 minute pick-up lately. You set the timer and everyone pitches in and races around to pick up very quickly (everyone works faster feeling the clock ticking and knowing it won't be a loooong cleaning session). You can assign different sections to each person. We used to do something similar when our older kids were younger, by calling out "Tornado" and they thought it was so fun they would giggle the whole time (even though we are hopefully having the opposite effect as a tornado, we are trying to move as fast as a tornado..."look at me, I'm so fast, I'm a blur")!

My favorite cleaning tip is to make a game out of it so my 2 toddlers will help!
I need one of these! I've also been using the spray mop what a waste! My favorite cleaning tip is to do a little bit everyday then it's not a huge chore on the weekend!
My favorite cleaning tip is putting vinegar in a baggie and wrapping it around the shower head to clean it out. Leave on 24 hours.
Thanks for the change to win! My favorite cleaning tip is to make my own cleaning spray with castile soap, water, and tea tree oil. It’s cheap and green!

favorite cleaning tip: use 2 cups water, 1/4 cup white distilled vinegar and 1/4 tsp dishwashing soap as an all purpose cleaner. Put in old Windex spray bottle, shake well. I use this on mirrors, countertops, toilets, you name it.

I do a quick wipe down of the bathroom after my shower every morning. It's easy and keeps things tidy.

Take things one room at a time to keep from getting overwhelmed! It's also a good idea to vacuum last to pick up everything from the surface cleaning!

If you haven’t used it in a couple of years, throw it out or give it away. It is easier to clean without the clutter.

My favorite cleaning tip is to clean a little bit daily to avoid having to clean up the whole house all at once! This is especially true for doing the dishes too!

I don't really have a favorite cleaning tip--because I don't like to clean! I use plain hot water to clean my floors. I'd love to win this fabulous prize so I can have my kids mop the floor. Thanks for the giveaway.

I have found that hand sanitizer is great for stains on fabric and as well as taking marker "art" off furniture.

I like to listen to music when I clean. I also have a routine. That keeps me focused.

Use a wet paper towel to get up the fine dirt left after sweeping the large dirt into a dustpan.

Trying again: Your own saliva will dissolve your blood stains, but only yours. Everyone has unique enzymes in their saliva that do that. If your husband bleeds on his shirt collar after shaving, have him spit on it, then use cool water to rinse it out. That will eliminate the stain. Then wash as usual. I learned this in my needlework guilds because we are always sticking our fingers and getting blood on our needlework. It works even on dried blood stains. Just remember it has to be the bleeder's own saliva.
I'm pretty darn sure I need one of those. I hate cleaning and mopping is at the top of the list. I don't have cleaning tips - I stink at it!

A) Keep multiple cleaning stations. I have one under the sink and one in my laundry room so it's always convenient to grab what I need.

the only thing i have found that works for me is to try to keep things done as I go.. no matter how tired or busy I may think I am, otherwise it gets too overwhelming

Okay, since I still haven't been able to find one at my local stores, I thought I better enter! I hope this mop is my new favorite cleaning tip!
My favorite cleaning tip is to use white vinegar. The smell dissipates quickly, it's economical, safe and does a great job!

My best tip is to just to keep up on cleaning like doing a little bit daily instead of letting it pile up!
I like to use vinegar to clean. :)

I keep paper towels, spray cleaner, and disinfectant wipes handy in each bathroom. We wipe the sink and counter each morning before going off to work. It only takes a minute, and saves a major cleaning later in the week.

with two adult children living here, my tip is to teach them to clean up after themselves! Also, scrub your sink every day with baking soda.
Use making soda to clean tough stains on pots and dishes as it will not scratch...just be careful as it makes things slippery until rinsed off
We have hardwood floors – this mop would be perfect for us!!
