I really love how organized everything is and how accessible all my necessities are as I’m sewing…when I’m home and sitting at my sewing desk, that is.
But the problem is that at least every-other Wednesday I go to my friend, Christie’s house for our sewing-play-date (she comes here the alternate Wednesday). I love these days, but it’s kind of a pain in the rear to pack up some of those necessities pictured above and somehow transport them a couple of blocks away without them all becoming a huge, tangled, dangerously sharp mess at the bottom of my sewing case. Enter Sew-Lutions Bobbin / Supply Box by Art Bin. 
I picked up this little wonder of sewing-specific organization at CSN Stores for less than $10. Allow me to formally introduce you…
It has two front, plastic latches 
And opens up to this 
Inside is removable bobbin storage with, such a genius idea, a magnetic strip attached! The bobbin storage is a thinner, cheaper plastic than the rest of the case. And I don’t know why. But it holds a ton of bobbins and has that magnetic strip! So I guess I can forgive the thin plastic thing.

You snip them apart and then slid them into slots in the case, to customize your ArtBin to fit your needs

All the stuff that slips and falls and hides laying in wait to poke and tangle at the bottom of my sewing case is now nicely organized in this little beauty, all ready to pack over to Christie’s 
My biggest reason for wanting this was the bobbin storage. I have two bobbin cases now, one doesn’t stay closed and dumps out my bobbins at the slightest bump. The other doesn’t hold the bobbins in place in transport. So even though the bobbins aren’t dumped in the bottom of my bag, they’re all tangled in a crazy mess in the case itself. When I was placing my bobbins in this storage, I was worried. My Viking bobbins seemed wider than the molded plastic holes of the storage, so they sat kind of shallow in the recesses. I mean it makes sense, Viking bobbins ARE wider than most other bobbins, so it’s kind of a common problem. But I was really worried that meant more movement in this case, which would stink since that’s not what I wanted at all. So it was with apprehension that I shut the case and set it on end… 
Totally still in place. Sweet.
But now for the real test…how do they do in transport? 
Right out of the sewing bag, and ta-da!
Everything in it’s place. I’ll admit, I was really surprised, and even more excited. The lid shuts tightly against the bobbins, so that even though they’re not deep in the recessed holes, they still stayed totally in place and secure. AWESOME!
I love that the box is small so that it fits right into my sewing bag without even a little bit of trouble. But I really, really love all the little compartments and areas. Now my stuff can be as organized on the road as it is at home. Less time digging through and figuring out where everything ended up and rolled to when I get to Christie’s means more time sewing and actually getting projects done. A very good thing. And with just a little rearranging, and a removal of a certain old, ill shutting bobbin case, this fit right into my bottom sewing desk drawer alongside my stay-at-home items. So now it’s a permanent fixture in all my sewing, home or away. In fact, I love this little ditty so much, it just made it’s way onto the gift list for at least three people on my Christmas list. You should totally run over to CSN Stores and grab a few before I buy them out.
